lump in new kitten!

Post by Loopyhw1 »

My boyfriend and I got 2 cats from the local shelter on Friday. a 5 year old male tabby and a little female tuxedo kitten... besides the usual hissing at each other until they got accustomed to each other and us, we have found a quarter sized lump in the kittens belly, right where her stitches are from being fixed. We are worried that there might be blockage or bleeding at the site and called the shelter who said it is pretty normal to have the knotted swelling and if it isn't bothering her to touch it, it should be fine in a few days...
we are still worried that it might be something more... anyone got any advice??

YEs absolutely take her to a real vet and get her looked at. Call and get in today. There could be an absess, bleeding internally.......a few different things come to mind. IF the shelter is willing to blow you off about it then get her to the vet NOW. RAther be safe then sorry. And please dont forget that cats do not show pain often.

Once all is fixed remember INDOORS ONLY FOR BOTH OF THEM.

If you have a question or concern let us know. And keep us posted about what the vet says. Go to the Emergency Clinic or call the vets service and see what they say and see if they can see you first thing tomorrow morning.

yes they are both indoor only cats with the exception of our screened in porch.... where they both seem to have taken a fancy to as of this morning.
I currently am working (and will be working til well after 7pm tonight) but my boyfriend is at home with them and says that neither will stop following him around today.. (which is GOOD the hissing is subsiding) ... and I told him to call the vet ASAP and get her in for a look...

IF you have a digital camera, or regular camera and a scanner, you can save images to your computer somewhere, then go to a free site like photobucket and register there...

You can set up albums on photobucket and upload pictures to the albums...then with each picture, they give you different links to use, depending on where you are posting the images....
I always use the 3rd link and just copy/paste it into the message box here and it puts the picture up!!

It is really very easy....easier than it sounds!!

my boyfriend just called me at work to tell me he spoke with a vet for about 15 minutes about the kitten's belly. the lump is smaller now and still doesn't seem to bother her, although he has said that the was biting at the stitches a little while ago.... the vet seemed confidant that she will be fine until her appointment that she's just irritating the area because it's itching her...
does this sound right? or should we cancel her appointment with this vet and find another?

I asked him to call another place and there seem to be no other offices open on Sundays... :? I'm hoping that things are ok and she will still be fine first thing in the morning... there's another office closer to our house but not associated with the shelter as the one we called under their recommendation... and it opens at 830... we'll just show up with her there and see what they say....
