what do i do?

Post by bp87 »

Can someone please give me advice. OK, my cat, she loves her dry cat food, but she doesn't drink her water out of her dish. She is an inside cat. Well, then I started drinking water a night ina small cup and she would always drink the rest, and then I just left her a cup there to drink out of for herself. But then, she would always tip it just so that the water was moving and then drink it, but a lot of times she tipped it to much and it fell off. I think I went thru like 5 glasses. Then I started to put them on the floor and plastic cups, but then she would just tip them over and spill water all over my carpet! As that isn't enough, she has started to drink out of the bathtub faucet. Everytime I go to the bathroom she runs in there and whines! So, usually I turn I it on a little drip just for her. But now, I just want her to drink out of her freakin cat dish!!! Does anyone know what to do? She even moves it sometimes!!! :? Thanks- Bp

a little confused, but she drinks out of a cup but not the dish/bowl?

seems like a cup would be easier to tip, but if tipping is the issue you might want to duct tape the bottom of the dish to the floor to see if she will stop playing with it and start drinking from it.

post back if i missed you. just to be complete, if your cat is not drinking at all then there could be a serious medical condition that only seeing a vet will remedy.

the bathtub drip may be a habit you are going to have to try and break, perhaps the duct taped dish over the drain during the day is a start and then the dish will be acceptable.

Sounds like she likes the motion of the water. If you can buy her one of those cat water fountain bowls, I bet she'd just love it.
