Vets across the country are anticipating calls and appointments with worries or concerns so do not hesitate to make an appointment if you think your cat has become ill due to the recalled food.
Signs to look for include vomiting, lethargy, dehydration and fever (among other symptoms, depending on the specific toxin or contaminant in a recalled food product, be watchful of the posted recalls here for symptoms per each product recalled). These are the most important as well as increased drinking, increased urination, avoidance of food and sudden weight loss.
Again, get your animal to the vet ASAP if anything out of the ordinary is occuring.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but wanted the most possible pet owners to see this. I saw this on another pet forum. There has been a huge recall of canned cat and dog food. Here is the link:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/4637752.html
There is also an article about it on Yahoo.com under "More News". What scared me is in that article, it mentions that some of the foods recalled are Iams/Eukanuba brands.

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
I just went to the Iams website and they have more information on the recalled foods. The manufacturer, Menu Foods, is supposed to have a complete list on their website as of tomorrow morning.

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
I saw this on another forum and it really has me upset. Frodo developed what looked like acute renal failure suddenly last month and now she is gone. I nw can't help but wonder I looked at the list and don't think I had fed her any of those foods because I usually use the ground wet cat food, not slices or chunks. But sometimes I would occasionally get the other by accident or if one of the cats was being finicky. For the life of me I wonder now...and it really upsets me because I wonder...you know? I've used several of those brands on a regular basis

Oh Tina... I can't even imagine what it must be like to have that worry. *HUGS* Please try not to beat yourself up over it. There's no sense in putting yourself through all that heartache again.

Re: IMPORTANT--Pet Food Recall
I'm not letting it get me too much silver, but when I heard it my mind was just spinning. I'm going to wait to hear more about the recall and then talk to my vet. It's gotten so I'm afraid to feed my cats anything though, with all the recalls recently. But yes, it does stink to think that the food you are trying to nourish your beloved furbaby with could be deadly...

I'm so sorry, Tina. Please know in your heart that you were trying to be the best "kitty mommy" that you could be.

Lovely, Nutro is on the list and that's what mine eat. It's only the pouches and that's what we buy as well as the cans. The expiration dates don't match with the pouches we have left over but nonetheless, I'm taking them back. Unbelievable.
Tina, I'm so sorry too.

Hill's cat food has now been added to the list...sheesh!

Great! When I asked the guy at Petco if Science Diet was safe, he said only the savory cuts were affected. We were buying the mush pate. Still though, makes you wonder ... and worry!
