Immediate help please!

Post by sweets »

What is a kittys temp suppose to be?

I earlier made a post titled "weight loss is she ill". This evening I noticed she went very little in the litterbox. About the size of a quarter (urine). I picked her up and felt her nose which is warm and dry. Isn't this an indication that they're sick?

We only have 2 vets here and it is after office hours. there are no emergency vet services available around here. For emergencys we have to travel about an hour into the city.

I wanted to take her temp. What is suppose to be a normal rectal temp for a cat? Perhaps she has a uti? I will definately take her in first thing a.m.

notmal in those catagorys, depending on the stage of excitement but usually 101.5 to 102 is ok but any above would be a fever and a regular recatal thermom with vaseline is fine..and the nose tells you nothing except in a cow---unless there are real extremes like cakiness or irritaton but feeling is no indication of temp...

What's nm stand for? I used the digital one and it said 101.2. Guess she doesn't have a temp.

I'll watch her urine output tonight and take her in tomorrow morning if necessary.

thx

nm means no message...in the body of the message...davet always posts in the subject line...it worked better on the old board set up (that's a hint davet  )

digital thermometers work fine rectally....and 101.2 is normal. Just keep an eye on her and moniter her urine output overnight...a warm dry nose isn't always an indicator of illness. My cats will often have warm dry noses right after waking up. If she is still urinating small amounts or seems to strain get her to the vet as soon as you can.

maybe: "hope everything works out" or just nothing at all? I don't know. Doesn't matter what you say to me I guess. I just didn't know what that meant which means alot of other people might not either. I consider myself pretty computer literate and am on a few message boards and hadn't heard that one before!

Well, Good night, sleep tight and don't let the fleas bite!!!!!
