Hi, I have two cats, one I've had since a kitten, the other I got aobut a year ago from the humane society, he was 3 1/2 then.
So the newer one, now 4 1/2, won't shutup! He's constantly meowing and doing it more and more every day. He's fine when we're sleeping, but the minute one of us gets up he starst, at first it was just at night when we were watching tv, he'd sit in the hall and meow, but the second he'd see us he'd run up and want attention and settle. Now its in the morning after he's feed, he woke me up from my nap this afternoon with it, he's sitting in the hall doing it again now. What do I do? Could something be wrong?
He wont' shutup!
Re: He wont' shutup!
Does he get plenty of quality during waking hours?
Does he have plenty of toys to keep him occupied when you are not available to play with him...
Cats and dogs ar elike our kids, and they want attention as well...I always have a cat on my lap or laying at the desk beside me...
Next...has he had a vet checkup recently?...He may be telling you that something is wrong...cats are very good at hiding their pain, and if they get to the point where we humans can detect that they are in pain, then it is to the point of intollerable for them!
I would suggest first a vet visit with total blood work done, urinalysis as well, as male cats tend to develop crystals, similar to kidney stones, which can be very painful and controlled with diet and medications...
Let us know what the vet says...

Re: He wont' shutup!
A four year old cat needs a lot of physically demanding play time. He sounds like he's bored. Whenever my Tommy starts like this I take the time to play with him, make him run, catch, 'kill' etc, until he's exhausted. It takes time and dedication. When you watch TV use one of those cat rods (how do you call them in the US - where something dangles from a string on a little stick?), you can leave the TV on and still swing that thing around, my Tommy loves to chase it. Does yours have spots to jump up and climb on, and other interesting cat toys, hiding places etc? Do your two cats play together?
