New kitty, help???

Post by luvmyhimis »

We added another kitty to our little kitty family not long ago. Currently I have 2 himalayans and with her we now have 3. She had some issues when we got her and the breeder assured me that everything with her was fine that I had nothing to worry about she just needed lots of tlc, but I just don't know if I can go with that. God knows she gets plenty of tlc here from me and my daughter, my daughter just spoils her. First of all she is about 3 months old, but looks like she is about 8 weeks. She is very tiny for her age. She had a bout with ringworm, that I'm still not really certain is cleared up. I bathe her and my other cats with this anti fungal shampoo just to be sure. I took her to the vet the day after we brought her home. They de wormed her and gave her antibiotics for coxidia, is what they called it. They had her on albon for a week. Which ok, I can deal with these things. I don't mind the nursing her back to health and loving her. She is eating fine and does seem like she is putting on weight. But...here is what has me frustrated. At first she wasn't really into the litter box and was eliminating outside of it. I asked the vet if some of her ailments could cause this, he said he didn't think so that maybe because she was so small she may not be right and have some mental issues. Well the breeder said she never had trouble with her going outside the box and recommended at first to put her in one room because she came from a caged cattery, until she got used of the house. Even when she was confined she pooped outside the box and in it sometimes too. I did the praising everytime she went in the box. Then for a week or so she was using the box now all the sudden she just wants to poop wherever she feels like it. I don't think she is retarded and will never use it. Has anyone ever encountered a cat like this? Any ones thoughts or advice would be wonderful.

Thanks :cat:

Find a new vet immediately, and get your kitten a new health exam. If she had coccidia, it may not have been eradicated, you need to ensure it has, only a vet visit can determine that with a new exam and fecal exam.
