Hi everybody, I hope you can help me with this situation. I have two cats, both are sisters and two years old. My wife and I bathed one cat, and after she dried off, she went to play with her sister and her sister went totally ballistic. She started to hiss, scratch, and go after her, and I figured it was the smell of the pet shampoo, so I decided to bathe her as well. I figured this would calm some of this new animosity toward her sister, it seemed to have gotten worse. Can anybody help me?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

You are correct, it was the shampoo scent that set off the other kitty. When you bathed her too, she may have felt it was for her behavior (not your fault), hence the two of them getting so stressed.
Try to seperate them for the rest of the night, and in the morning, if you have cornstarch available, sprinkle a tiny amount on each kitty's fur, brush through, and slowly reintroduce them together again. The cornstarch will help to neutralize any residual scent of the shampoo. (don't use anything else, nothing scented, etc)
You might have to prepare yourself for another day or so until they are completely comfortable with one another again, but don't worry, they should do fine soon enough and will probably forget the incident.
Next time, for baths, try to use only non-scented kitty shampoo, but ideally, kitties don't require bathing at all (unless they got into something).

Thank You Traci!
As of now, they are separated, and we'll try the cornstarch. You have given us great relief, because we thought this situation was going to be permanent. I will let you know how it turns out. Thank You very, very, much!
