I have 2 cats, both shorthairs, one female age 1 1/2 and one male age 2.
They are both fixed and are generally pretty good cats.
I have had the female for about 9 months and the male for about 7 1/2 months.
I feed them from a 2-bowl stainless steel feeding bowl and have a water fountain that they drink from.
Recently, the male has started peeing in their food bowls.
I can't think of anything that has changed in the past month, so I am baffled.
Any ideas why he would be doing this?
Revenge is the reason I expect to hear, but our work and sleep schedules are the same and we never had the problem before.
Thanks
Matthew
Cat peeing in his food bowls
Re: Cat peeing in his food bowls
The first thing to do is get him checked by your vet to rule out potential urinary tract infection, especially if he also developed sudden litterbox aversion, is urinating elsewhere in the home, developed other sudden abnormal behavior. Don't wait on that, get him seen promptly and get a full urinalysis done.
Other than that, have you recently changed their food type?

Re: Cat peeing in his food bowls
Like I said, I haven't changed anything in the past 6 months.
Work time, sleep time, food, location of litterbox or food...nothing...that's why I'm confused.
He doesn't go anywhere else but his food bowl.
And just this morning, he did it right in front of me.
I am confused.
Thanks

Get him to your vet promptly for an exam and full urinalysis.
