vomiting cat, need help

Post by GA Jamie »

We have a half grown cat. He is probably near 6 months old. Over the last 3-4 days, he has been vomiting as many as three times a day. Some of it is clear with one time the appearance of a small fur ball present. Most of the time it appears to be undigested food. He appears to be eatinga nd drinking but I'm not sure it is getting digested. He isn't acting as though he is starving so I am unsure. He does appear to have lost a little weight. He has been neutored and received his rabies shot about a month or so ago. He has been wormed and is stickly a house cat. We have another cat and she is almost old enough to be spayed. I can't think of anything he could have gotten into except polyfill and we've tried to keep that picked up. We don't want anything to happen to him. But we don't have the funds for ex-rays or surgery, if that is needed. Is there something we can do? We have been keeping him isolated to make sure he doesn't eat anything but his food. These are our first cats and I really don't know what to do.

Please help!

TIA!

Any type of noticeable weight loss in a cat is cause for concern and warrants a vet trip. The fact that the weight loss appears to be due to the vomiting is even more reason to avoid risk and get him seen first thing in the morning. Explain your financial situation to your vet, not his staff but to him directly and ask about a payment plan, post dating a check, using a credit card, etc. My vet gives a free post-op visit, maybe yours will too if your little guy hasn't been seen since his neuter.

Please don't let this go on any longer; vomiting and weight loss is serious.

Agree, weight loss combined with vomiting demands a vet visit immediately...don't wait on this at all.
