We adopted a georgous Snow shoe siamese 7 months ago. almost 11 months old now. She had quite the personality. She was so fiesty and played non stop. (typical kitten). Then we had her spayed. She instantly changed dramatically. She didn't just slow down - she down right stopped! She will play if you coax her into it. She now sleeps nearly all day and most of the night. Before you'd have to beg her for affection and now she can't get enough. She now meows for affection. She'll come up and start rubbing her face on your leg for attention. It's like she can't get enough. I love the new affection part but am unsure about her slowing down sooo much. It's been approx 4 months or so since her spay.
Is this normal. I've heard yes but I've also heard that's not so. I have to admit I really miss her fiestyness. She use to growl when we played with her. She was so wild and now is just a different cat altogether! Both personalities are loveable but so different.
Kitty did a 360!
Re: Kitty did a 360!
the only behavior change from surgery that i am aware of is declawing (only talking about front declaw). i have heard that some cats simply do not adjust well to it.babyandhoney wrote:Then we had her spayed. She instantly changed dramatically. She didn't just slow down - she down right stopped!
my two cats are both fixed and front declawed. rocky (male) did take some time to get used to his paws (took longer than java my female) but eventually returned to normal.
it's possible your kitty is "growing up", my java did that around the one year mark. she stopped playing with toys and started becoming more docile, she was always somewhat like that though.
as always (standard disclaimer), just keep an eye her to be sure she is not trying to tell you something that might be serious or warant a vet visit.
