DAVET,
Are you familiar with tendonectomies done with a lazar? I have seen two
kittens done that way and they don't even seem to know anything has
been done from the minute they awake. They don't hurt, you can not see
any incision unless you get a magnifiying glass, almost. It is sure a far
cry from a de-claw.
The reason I ask is my Bengal kitten, 4 months old now. She is a terror.
In all my cat loving years I have never de-clawed a cat, and that is a lot
of years, (67 in July), but she may be the first to get a lazar tendonectomy. She tears soft paws off in minutes, and is terrible to put
them on in the first place. I finally took her to the vet the last time to see
if he could do better. NOPE! She just eats them off which worries me by
itself.
What do you think? I am worried about Traci, too. She better be OK!!

Re: Tendonectomy
laser tendonectomy is much more gentle on the cat than onchiectomy ie surgical removal....the only problem and it is not a big one is that you have to trim the nails once in a while and that is not to difficult....i thinksoft paws are worthless cause they tend to ripo off and occaisionaly take the corium or shell of the nail with them...i would go for the laser proceedur and i would have done it but it came in too late for me to buy the qeuiptment....the guy that bvought my opractice got one immediatly....i will say go for it and i am sure other willsay not...so it is strictly and opinion....
