Hi! my name is Kristin and I just wanted to introduce my self and my two cats, Oreo (black and white neutered male, almost 3) and Nikko (classic brown tabby neutered male, almost 1).
My question is how important is nail trimming for cats. I don't really mind them having long nails as most often they don't scratch me or important furniture. If I don't trim their nails is it harmful in any way to them?
Thanks for any help! and I hope to be meeting other cat lovers here!
Nail Trimming
Re: Nail Trimming
if you don;'t trim them they can snage and pull the outer shell off which can lead to infection...try doing even one nail a night if the cat is not happy about the procedure. If they will use a scratching post regularly then they will trim them themselves but if not good idea for you to do it..
Both of my cats definately uses their scratching posts quite a bit. They have one large cat tree with the rope to scratch on, and then three other scratching posts of either carpet or rope to scratch on. They loves them and use it quite reguarly. So, is it probably not too big of a deal if I don't trim their nails?
Also, if I do trim their nails, how often does it need to be done?
