Cat w/ excessive bum licking misdiagnosed

Post by georgy »

The vet misdiagnosed my cat. It was not an anal glad issue at all. When I picked her up after surgery the vet explained that there was a deep laceration around her rectum that required stiches. I can not even figure that one out. Now she has to wear the collar for a week or more so she doesn't remove the stiches during grooming. HOW IS SHE SUPPOSED TO GROOM THE OTHER AREAS OF HER BODY? And...won't the stiches be affacted when she goes to the bathroom? Oh! antibiotics were prescribed.
Is that normal proceedure?

very very rarely, if ever do aaround the rectum esp if she is on antibiotics...and with the collar on you can do all the grooming necessary...the stitches are noral for that proceedure...dogs get perianal fistulas quite often and this may be what your cat had...how or why itoccured,,,beats me but don;t worry about the stitches getting infected.
