URGENT

Post by rennie »

I have an outside feral cat who has just had 5 kittens a week ago. All 6 of them are now sick. They're sneezing and mucus is coming from their noses. It's hard for the kittens to breath, and I don't think mom is feeding them now. Take them to the vet right? I can't. I am only 16. My mom won't carry them to a vet or shelter because she says they'll only put them to sleep. I don't know what to do. I feel hopepless. Can anyone help me?

Do you have a local shelter aspca nearby? If so, why don't you call them immediately and explain the situation. I don't know if they will help you but it's worth a try.

it sounds like, and only a guess but a form of feline distemper...try calling a vet and see if they might have an over the phone treatment..i doub t it though...but like kids, if need bee steam a bathroom up and see if that will get them to breath better and take a q-tip and remove as much mucus as possible from the nose...but try a phone call first...

Definitely call a vet. Explain your age and that you are just concerned about the helath of the kittens. They may help you...even a tech may take them as a charity case. Of course they may take complete responsibility of the kittens and find them homes once they are mature enough...good luck!
Or if that all doesn't work, please see my website (Debbie's Feline Health) under Favorites on the menu on the left side of the board. Look under the Feline section for "Kitten", "Kittening" & "Fading Kitten Syndrome". There is also a wonderful kitten section on this website as well that should give you some good advice on hand raising them if need be.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
