I have new kitten and he wants to sleep with my husband and me which would be OK but he scratches in the middle of the night and wants to play. If I put him in the living room(he has a nice down bed and a kitty"condo")he sits by our door and meows very loudly for a long time. He is only 8 weeks old and was with a lot of other kittens when we got him. I don't know what to do! any suggestions?

He has barely been weaned....barely seperated from his siblings (or other kittens)....since this is such an early age for him, he needs desperately to bond with you. Be prepared, this is the time in his development for socialization, play, curiosity, mischief, exploration, he needs to expend energy for his well-being and proper development. Just like human babies, the first weeks and months are critical for bonding, they desire your constant attention...

Thanks for the advice. I have been reading more about training and behavior management too. I was surprised at the super needy behavior because my last cat wasn't like that at all when we got him. New Kitty is doing better, he will sleep with my son now too.
