I have had my 2 cats now for years, Asia an abyssinian and April a siamese. We bought them when they were kittens and they are both 14 years old. They have been indoor cats their whole life.
The recent problem is April has been defecating on my bed. I'm not sure what the problem could be. It has only happened a few times and I dont understand why. The feces itself has always been solided and not like diarrhea and she always seems to go in the same spot. She has never deficated any other place else in my house.
She had done this about a month ago and it just happened again today, I havent changed their routine or moved her cat box. Is this common problem with older cats?
Cat defecation problem..
Re: Cat defecation problem..
not a common problem but it does happen...you might try putting a few more liter pans around, especially one near the bed to see if she will break the habit, then graduallymove the liter pan out, ie a foot or two a day...worst it can do is not work
Re: Cat defecation problem..
Any cat over the age of 7 should recieve yearly exams and a full blood profile, including urinalysis and thyroid function. Since this occured rather suddenly, it's important you get her examined to make sure there isn't an underlying health problem surfacing, that could be why she is leaving you surprises on your bed, her way of getting your attention to a health matter. Make an appointment for her right away.
