I need some quick help on my cat.

Post by animal lover 16 »

I have a young cat, I don't know the exact age, and it has been acting funny ever since early this morning. I found it as a stray way back in August, when it was really small. It has grown to where I strain my arms to carry it, because it has gotten so fat. As for the incidents from this morning and on up to this very moment, it has been acting strange, as in it is attemtping to mate with my female cat.

When I first found it, I thought that it was a female kitten, because I did not see a well...'object' of any sort. I am more of a dog person, and so I thought that male cats were similar to male dogs in their 'mating ways'. After a few months, I noticed that the cat had formed a set of 'bells', if you will. I am not very sure if this cat is a male or female, because I have heard from someone that male cats do not have 'objects', but instead have a set of 'bells'. Is there anyone who can really help me? I realize that this is a pretty stupid thing to ask for help on, but it's confusing me.

Are you saying you own this cat now? Since you've had him since August, did you ever take him to your vet? Is your female cat spayed? Is either one of them allowed outdoors? Are both cats up-to-date on their vaccinations?

Here is an image to help you determine male from female:

If this kitty has never seen a vet, get him seen and once determined to be healthy by your vet, get him neutered.

If he is grossly overweight, your vet will want to implement a weight management program, please heed your vet's advice about this, obesity is the number one cause of liver failure, diabetes, heart conditions and arthritis.
