Hi, i'm new to these boards! I haven't had much of a chance to look around but i was wondering if anyone could give me some help.
I've had two cats for about a year now, both quite young, and only recently the bigger of the pair has started trying to knock over her food bowl and tip the food on the floor. I've heard of some cats doing this because for some reason they prefer to eat from off the floor. But she just tips it over & then leaves it & won't eat it till later when she is starving.
The only way i could think of to prevent her from doing this was to buy heavy ceramic bowls but even then she still gives it a try. I understand about cats being messy eaters but i was wondering if anyone had any advice to maybe stop her from doing this or what could be causing it.
Thanks for any help
xx
My cat keeps tipping over her food bowl
Re: My cat keeps tipping over her food bowl
She might have a sensitivity, as in she doesn't like her whiskers touching the bowl when she eats (common for some cats)...in that case, you can invest in the following, it's a dog bowl, but it would serve the purpose...I have one for my cats' water dish. Stainless steel is better anyway, as glass, ceramic, etc can all harbor bacteria that can lead to feline acne. Stainless is cleaner, keeps food and water fresher and is easier to clean.
No-tip stainless bowl...choose the smallest: 2-cup capacity. These are available at any petsmart or other pet store.

could try to place some duck tape around and under the bowl and stick it to the floor. i had to do that when one of my cats had a collar on (to prevent licking "down there")...worked great.
