I just adopted a cutie pie flame-point Siamese. He was adorable and put on quite a show, rolling on his back, playing with my finger and then licking my hand at the animal shelter. They say he's a year and a half old, but his testicles hadn't even dropped, so I think they must be wrong.
Anyway, he's a sweet baby and my husband is taking him home tonight! Any pointers on making him feel at home with other cats and a new place?

Re: Just adopted a kitty! Any tips?
Congratulations on your new kitty! He sounds like quite a little charmer.
First, you should set him up in a spare room and keep him separated from your other kitties until you have your own vet give him a clean bill of health. Then you can slowly introduce him to the others in short supervised visits until you are comfortable that they will all get along. I have some links on "Introductions" under the Feline section of my website listed on the left side of the board under Favorites (Debbie's Feline Health).
About the testicles not dropping down yet. Ask you vet to estimate his age. If he is indeed over one year old then he may have a condition called Cryptorchidism which is retained testicles. When you have him neutered, your vet will have to do a little extra work and perform surgery to find them. Neutering is advisable because retained testicles increases the kitty's chances of developingg cancer later in life.

There are others, again under the Feline section of my website.
Good luck with your new kitty! And if you can post some pics of him, we'd love to see them!

You can see him at:
http://www.dogeventhorizon.com/riverside.html
He's all the way on the bottom, looking confidently at the camera.
Fortunately or unfortunately, Riverside Animal Shelter, neuters or spays animals before you can take them home...so I'll simply have to take him to my vet. He also appears a lot smaller than average for a male cat and he has a small head and big feet. So I think they just goofed up on the age.
But I will give him a check-up and ask about how the neutering went.

Oh I saw him!! He's gorgeous!!!! I'm not familiar with Siamese cats. My sister just recently gave me a wonderful book of cat short stories and there is a wonderful story in there about two Siamese cats named Solomon & Sheba.

Flame points aren't registered as a Siamese breed yet. So to many people he's just a domestic short hair. They have tan to orange ears, a color on their noses and face and a tan to orange tail.
He's so soft and really a sweetie-baby. Only one bad thing...he likes to claw furniture, wood, the carpet. the bed, so I'm going to look into some SoftPaws for a couple months.
