Help for a Terrified Cat
Help for a Terrified Cat
PLEASE help me!! I really shouldn't have done this, but I had a head of a bear and put it on. My cat saw this and ran off very fast and hid in a small corner. She cries out and hisses whenever I, or anybody is around. I bring her out into the open and she crouches down and runs to another hiding spot. I dont know what to do. Please help me with my cat! She is still hiding in her spot. She does not do what she used to do. I am scared to death for her sake. She wont eat, sleep, or do whatever. PLEASE! Anybody with any help.

Re: Help for a Terrified Cat
Don't worry, just be calm... I think she'll come around after a while. She needs to feel safe, so the best thing you can do for her is probably leave her alone and let her hide in a place she feels safe for now. Then slowly start spending time with her - like lie quietly in the room with her. I don't have any idea how long it will take, it could be days, but she'll come around eventually if you take it slow. Don't, don't, don't force her to come out in the open. The best thing you can do is be calm and not scary, and be patient! Good luck and let us know how it's going...

Suprisingly, when I was sleeping last night, she came up and was her usual self! She now is sitting on my lap and acting like nothing ever happened. Thanks for your advice and keep up the good posting. Her name is Midnight by the way. Her whole body is completly black with a slight, non-noticable low color of brown strips on her sides. She was the runt of the litter and her tail broke during her birth, so she has a kind of "crooky" tail, in which doesn't bother her at all. Amazingly, she is the fiestiest cat I have ever seen! Shes doing fine now. Thanks again!

I had a similar experience with Miss Kitty. We lived in a ground floor apartment and she spent HOURS looking out the window. One day my sister came over with her BIG black dog and they saw Miss Kitty in the window. The dog ran over to the window. Poor Miss Kitty was traumatized! She wouldn' go near the windows for two whole weeks. I actually had to to keep the shades down for awhile because she was so upset.
