Cats Stomachs

Post by Hal »

I'm just wondering... why does my cat roll over onto her stomach and acts like she wants to be rubbed there. But when I do she bites me? Not hard, but when she does she'll like my hand then walk away. Is that a tender spot or is there something wrong with my cats stomach?

how can you actually tell when that cat rolls over that she actually wants you to rub there...maybe she is just airing herself out...???

Sheesh, Davet, LOL!!

Hal, she is probably eliciting play or affection. Most cats abdomens are more sensitive than other areas, so be gentle, not rough with her.

My Honeybun does this and sometimes will swat me, esp if I go too low on her stomach. They are very private creatures and want affection on their terms. She will roll around on the floor and lay on her back, sometimes I can pet her stomach for a long time, other times she will swat and bite (not hard); she loves chin rubs.

Just my take on this belly wave thing they do!!

Davet you are too funny!

A cat rolling over in front of you is a true sign of trust on her part. It doesn't have anything to do if she wants to have her belly rubbed. That is a human response we want them to enjoy and most cats do not enjoy a good belly rub. The cat is just saying it recognizes you as the head of the home and the act of submission is a normal part of cat language. I would get nailed if I tried to rub every cat belly shown to me during the day.
