my cat is sick can anyone help??

Post by cindy658@hotmail.com »

my cats have been sneezing and sleeping for the past day and a halfe.im a full time student with absolutely no income, im still trying to figure out how to pay my next bill.. im hoping my cats just have a cold that will pass but am scared it may be worse. if they don't get better then i will have to take them and pray that they have some type of payment plan. i hope someone can tell me if there is something i can do myself for them to check if it is seriouse enough to take them to the vet or if there is a home remedy of some sort.please send me some info. thank you. :(

Cindy...it could be something as simple as an upper respiratory infection. Are they eating normal? Have they been exposed to any other cats or been outside? Are they up to date on vaccines? Any mucous from their eyes or nose? Do they seem to have a hard time breathing? If they are stuffy you can put them in the bathroom with a hot shower running and let the steam help unclog their noses. As far as home remedies go...if they aren't eating you might try a little warm broth (make sure no onion is in it though!) to entice them. If any of my cats seem to be dealing with a "cold" or watery eyes I will usually add some colostrum powder to their food...but it's expensive (probably cheaper to go to the vet!) or some Lysine...maybe 1/8 tsp at a time...

Call around and see if any vets in your area will arrange a payment plan or something. I don't see this as an emergency but think it's best to know that you have somewhere you can take them if they get worse. My cats will occasionally have bouts of sneezing and watery eyes...I usually don't run them to the vet unless it persists or they get lethargic.

Good luck..keep us posted

i don';tknowhow the vets in yuour area work but i had lots of people come in a flatly state that they could not pay but would pay when they could..i would say 90% of them paid eventually...had one couple have that problem, they had just got married and their pup was really sick...they promised to pay when they could....bumped into them in the Acme years later, i didn;t recognize them, and had already retired..they chased me down an aisle and apologized and paid me the 12 bucks they owed...ask your vet if you could pay when you can...it might work,,although these days i wonder...

My kitten came down with a cold. the exam and medicine (Clavamox which is amoxicillan) only cost $36. It is best to bring your cat in because even if it is just a cold it can turn into something worse.
