Gilbert is eating MY hair!

Has anyone ever heard of a cat eating its owners hair? He isn't eating it off my head, although he has tried once. He must be finding it on the floor and twice now I've caught him with my hairbrush, but he has always loved to chew on bristles...like on the broom or his own hair brush. I know from scooping out his litter box that he is definitely eating my hair but I am wondering if there is any harm in this? He seems happy and totally healthy and never coughs or anything like he has hairballs. I have long curly hair and it seems to shed everywhere no matter what I do, so it will be hard to keep it away from him if he is determined to eat it. I just wanted to check and see if this is normal and okay. Gilly and I thank you in advance.

Well my cats love to chew and play with my daughters long hair, but I have not seen them ingest the hair, just nuzzle and chew and hit it with her their paws.

Are you sure they are ingesting the hair, if so this could not be good for their digestive system along with their own fur.
