Davet/Traci - Chloe's Teeth - Canines

Post by Mona »

Davet/Traci~

Chloe has two canines on the top. The new teeth are coming in with the old, and the old ones are not coming out yet. I talked to the tech at my vet's office, and he said by the end of the week if they do not come out, they may have to pull them.

Just wanted your advice/feelings on this. Is there anything we can do, they looked inflamed and sore.

Mona, Honeybun and Chloe :(

I think you should have your vet take a look ASAP.. retained deciduous teeth can cause misalignment of permanent teeth and can also become infected and abcess. If there is inflammation and pain present, infection may already be present. It may not be a good idea to wait and see for a week before attending to this.

Here's a link with some info - it's about dogs but the info would also apply to cats ( i assume retained baby teeth is more common in dogs but can obviously happen w/ cats too).

Here's a link to a bit of info on teeth also:

Thanks for the information I will check tonite and take the appropriate action and get an appointment. They do look quite inflamed and probably hurt her.

Thanks,

agree with JDF, it is not an emergency but they should be removed, you can help byt tryuing to loosen them eery day or so..but the inflammation would indicate to get them checked as soon as possible

Thanks Davet, both canines have come out but left a blood area on either side. Today it looked better, but I am going to call the vet.

Thanks,
