I have a couple of questions.............

Post by Nurse_Jamie »

I have heard that lining the bottom of the litter pan with baking soda will eliminate odors....anyone know if this works???

Also, my kitty is a good eater. I keep food out for her all day. She eats whenever she feels like it. But she still looks pretty skinny to me. I mean, I can't see ribs or hipbones, but she just looks a little bit skinny. Is this just because she is young (10 weeks) and frisky? Or maybe she isn't eating enough? I always keep her bowl full. Maybe I am just used to my mom's fat house cats, maybe that's why she looks skinny to me, but is it normal for her to be thin? She is real playful and energetic. I am sure she isn't sick. I think I could tell if she was sick from her actions...and she certainly is energetic. Anyone know the norm weight for a 10 weel old kitten?

Thanks!!!

The baking soda will only work if it does not get too soaked with urine....in other words, clean box daily....it also may not work well if you're using a scented litter, baking soda in that case would be futile.

Here is a Body Condition Score chart....look at it carefully and you can probably try to determine if she is underweight....if you feel she is, don't hesitate to get her seen by your vet. Chances are, she is expending energy and is eating fine, but you don't want to take chances. (if you let her outdoors, by chance, you need to rule out parasites, worms)
