Hi there
My kitten has got slightly red eyes - around the rim - if that makes sense. There is a slight discharge - seems to be more tear discharge than anything else - i.e. not green or yellow or anything. Just clear and then when it dries, dark brown. She isn't scratching at them or rubbing or anything. Is this something that I can just monitor and if isn't right by Monday, take her to the vet?
Thanks!

Re: Red eyes
I don't think I'd wait on this...if it persists through the weekend, or worsens, you may not have a vet available after hours/weekends.
Could be a form of conjunctivitis, but also rule out use of chemicals, bleach, cleaners around the house that could be aggrivating his mucous membranes.
Don't risk it, try to get your kitty seen today.

Re: Red eyes
The symptoms you describe could be a result of some kind of allergy, but most likely this is some type of eye or upper respiratory infection. This is quite common and easily cured with medication. My best guess is that this won't go away on its own, I would suggest going ahead and making an appointment with your vet.
Good luck to you and your kitty! Please post an update and let us know how she is doing!

Re: Red eyes
I agree with Traci. Possibly conjunctivitis. My kitten had the same thing, red rim around the eyes, discharge...I woke up the next morning to find his nictating membranes and eyes red and swollen. It looked like his eyes were about to fall out. Luckily it cleared up with eyedrops from the vet within a week and no damage to his eyes. A trip to the vet should be able to diagnose it. My vet couldn't determine if it was caused by a chemical reaction, virus or bacteria so it could really be anything.
