help!!! outdoor cat with babies

hi, I am looking for some insight to this particular situation. My outdoor cat had kittens 2 weeks ago and we have been taking care of her - this morning i went to check on the kittens and they were all gone. I am so sad right now. Is this normal behaviour for a cat? I am postive that my cat has moved them. She is a wild outdoor cat and had her babies in an old carpet we had rolled up on our port. We built her a well insulated cathouse and she seemed to like it. I really hope that all 7 kittens are ok. I just wanted to know if anyone knows if this is normal.

Impossible to say..but chances are she moved them to an area she felt was safer, quieter, sheltered, etc. While the cat-house is probably nice and all, chances are, it is much too hot for her (summer heat).

Try following her sometime to see if she leads you to her kittens.
