laryngitis
laryngitis
Can cats get laryngitis? My cat gradually lost his voice over the last week and it is still gone.He seems to be feeling fine, plays, eats, etc. Is this a common problem?I have had several cats over the years but this is a first for me.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Linda
Re: laryngitis
How old is your cat? I'm not an expert on this but the only time I've known a cat to lose it's voice is when damage or illness is the cause. Perhaps a quick check at the vet could rule out anything serious.

Re: laryngitis
Yes, they can. Usually it is idiopathic (of unknown origin), but you don't want to take chances, get him evaluated by your vet as soon as possible.
He could have a bacterial infection brewing, a viral or upper respiratory infection, etc. You can also check Debbie's Feline Health Links and check her "L" category for Laryngitis links.
