Saliva? in food dish after eating

Hello: :?

My newest adoptee, a bicolor (black and white) Persian cat, 4 years old is leaving what looks like saliva? in his food dish after eating. It looks like the color of the moist food he has eaten only watered down. At first I thought it was saliva moistened blood and really freaked out. I have seen this three times (not a lot each time). First time was about two or three weeks ago and today, two times (morning and noon).

He also has the typical rusty eye discharge found in some Persians. I do clean his eyes. He has beautiful long whiskers and wondered if this discharge is what I am seeing in the food dish when I pick it up to wash it. He has a vet appointment on Saturday, 5/3/2003 and will mention this situation to her. In the meantime, I would appreciate any comments on what I am seeing. Thank you in advance. [/b]

discharge or similar you might check the teeth,,its just a guess at what you are seeing but be sure to check the teeth or the back areas of the throat....just strictly guess work....

I concur with Davet, there may be a serious oral problem going undetected, could be an abcessed tooth, severe gingivitis, loose teeth or oral ulcers.

Ask your vet to perform a full oral exam.
