Clumping litter OK for kittens??

Post by Kittyfriend »

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows if it is OK to use clumping litter for kittens. I recently adopted 4 beautiful kitties who are now almost 16 weeks old. I would like to switch from the brand I am currently using (Feline Pine) because I think a clumping litter will be easier for cleanup in their litterboxes. I was thinking I could gradually make the change as long as I know that there is no problem with using a clumping brand. If it is ok, does anyone have any suggestions for a good brand??
Thanks!

Well, I use S'Wheatscoop for Chloe who is 10 weeks old.

I was afraid of the clay clumping until she is older.

Kittens tend to eat things on the floor etc. HOw old are your kittens?

The S'Wheatscoop is non toxic to kittens if ingested. Another alternative are the Crystals (hard) or paper litter which I found does not clump well.

Hope this helps you. :)

At 16 weeks old, clumping litter should be fine. We usually don't recommend it for very young kittens simply because they are not impeccable groomers and do tend to play in the litterbox, ingest it from their paws, etc.

I am sorry I did not read the age of the kittens.

My Chloe is a little younger, and tends to play in things, so I feel better with the S'Wheatscoop. I will change later on to Tidy Cat .
