My cat is sick and dying. It started about a month ago when his nictitating membrane (inside eyelid)
started covering his eyeballs. I didn’t think it was a big deal but then he lost about 1/2 his body weight in the course of a week and is having toilet accidents and is skin and bones, coughing, lethargic, loss of appetite, vim and vigor, his fur is matted down. What could possibly be wrong with him?? He’s an outdoor kitty is 7 yrs old. I’ve been unemployed since Feb. 4th and can’t really afford an expensive vet bill. Anybody have any ideas??

Re: Sick kitty
This could be anything, and I mean anything, there are literally hundreds of health conditions and ONLY a vet can determine by examining and doing bloodwork. The bloodwork can be a basic profile to keep costs down, it will rule out heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, etc.
Allowing him outdoors doesn't help narrowing down the list of potential health issues, particularly toxins, animal bites, abcesses, feline viral disease.
There is no time to waste, you owe it to your kitty to get him to a vet RIGHT NOW, TONITE, TO AN ER VET, you've waited far too long and if you wait another day, hour, etc, it is obvious that you are allowing your kitty to suffer with an illness that could be potentially treatable.
Sell something of value, borrow a friend's or family member's credit card (pay them back later), whatever it takes, where there is a will, there is a way. Your kitty has given you half a lifetime of joy, companionship and love, you owe him the same, get him to a vet IMMEDIATELY!!!
Don't take this as a crude message, take it as the right thing to do for your kitty!

At least bring your kitty into the vet for an initial diagnosis. If it is something that you cannot afford to treat and kitty is in fact dying and in pain, at least let it go peacefully and humanely.
