Bully neighbours and the cat who thinks she's a dog
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could help.... we have recently moved to a new area, and after a resettling period we have begun to let our cat, Phoebe, out to explore. She came to us as a stray and we have been completely unsuccessful at making her an indoor cat... she just doesn't like it!!!!!
Anywho.... there is a local cat that is basically bullying her. This cat will sit on our doorway and block phoebe's way back in to the house. If we leave windows open for her, the other cat chases her in and around the house!!! The cat has no ID attached, so I can't approach the owners. Any ideas? I know Phoebe will have to battle it out eventually, but I want her to feel safe and comfortable coming and going as she pleases, without the stress of big, black bully cat on her tail!
At the moment I am reduced to standing guard with a water squirter, trying to keep a clear path for the princess!!! I do actually have things I would rather be doing, believe it or not, so would really appreciate any suggestions
Our other problem is that Phoebe seems to think she has all the rights of a dog, and has started to try to come on walks with us!!! If we leave the house with her outside, she will follow us for several blocks. Only thing that works is to lock her indoors. Just wondered if anyone else had an alternative that means she doesn't have to stay in all day!
Thanks peeps
