Do cats have accidents? If so, how many times? How about kittens?
No, I don't own a cat and I wanted to know. I know if it does happen you should take it to a vet for a urinary checkup. But do cats have accidents like puppies when they are young?

Superdude, if there is something specific please specify. (like if your neighbor or friend is going through something and you are concerned).
Cats can have accidents once in a blue moon. Sometimes the little pan can be to small for them and they over shoot thus pooping outside the litter pan or peeing on it and thus it trickling down it and landing on the floor. For the most part a healthy kitty shouldn't be having accidents outside the litter pan.
If they are yes they should be seen by vet. It could be a number of things, like a UTI or stress related as well. Something new in the home. If the kitty is an outdoor kitty and the person is starting to bring the kitty inside to be indoors only well that might cause it to have accidents due to confusion but rest assured they will adjust fine.

No, that answers my question. I know puppies have accidents all the time if you don't properly take it outside every 20 mins or so. It's not there fault and I was wondering if it was the same for kittens. (IE show them the litter box every 20 minutes or so)
Do you get a litter box with a cover on it so they don't miss?

Superdude....any kittens I have had have only had to be shown the litter box once and they use it with no further intervention. I think the exception may be if the kitten is taken from their Mom to early or if they are ill.
Hope this helps.

Ahhhh... Okay, I was thinking I would have to train them. I was worried that they might have accidents all the time when they are young. Puppies sometimes forget that they have to go outside and just do it.oconnorjoy wrote:Superdude....any kittens I have had have only had to be shown the litter box once and they use it with no further intervention. Just agreeing with the other posts here. I've never had a cat who needed any special training. Showed them the litter box once, and that was enough. Some probably found it on their own without being shown but you can't count on that.
If an accident happens, it's very rare. Look at the litter box first: Is it accessible to the cat? Is it being kept clean? Maybe the cat doesn't like the type of litter being used?
Then look at the cat's general health and see if there's a problem.
