Just picked up Mr. Orange....news not that good
They sutured his ear and sent me home with some metacam and clavamox for it. He's to be inside for 2 weeks or so. They had asked if I wanted them to clip his other ear for neutering ID purposes, I said sure. Well looks like they removed about 1/4 of the top of the ear! His sutured ear looks better!
Now for the bad news. They found a murmer. They were unable to determine what stage because he was freaking out. They said to bring him back in a couple of weeks after he calms down some and they may have to do an unltrasound.
No way can I possibly keep him. Even in perfect health, his needing to be an only cat, and his ear things I may have a difficult time finding him a forever home.
But to let him back outside, probably in need of meds for the murmer isn't a great idea either.
Anyone out there want him?. He seems happy to be bacvkc in the bathroom for now, and enjoyed being petted for a bit (they said at the vets he was wild and difficult to deal with). Also I don't think the ultrassound and murmers is covered under the rescue group...at least not there. Poor guy.

sorry about the murmur....as for the 1/4" of his ear...that is standard for TNR....that way they are identifiable from a distance as having been neutered and released....
Hope you can find him a forever home....just explain about the ears and hopefully some will love him for his most handsome, forelorn, majestic, stoic face

I'm sorry to hear that Debbie....I know the heartbreak that goes with rescue, and it sucks. If I recall correctly we were able to get a tipped ear cat adopted out when I was helping rescue ferals/strays in Florida, so don't give up hope. I'll keep Mr. Orange in my prayers that he finds a forever home. He so deserves it!

MomPaws, thanks for asking about him! He's still recuping in my bathroom. He's a bit moody. Sometimes he's into being petted and getting attention, other times he'd rather be left alone. But I think he's starting to feel better.
I will contact the rescue people this week and let them know how he's doing, what I've gt and have them see if they know anyone willing to take him on. I'm really busy at work this week, but I will also contact local no kills and other rescue groups. He's still got at least 1 1/2 weeks of recup time and taking clavamox. I do hate the idea of putting him back out but I may have no choice. He may not even be a good innie anyway...too soon to tell right now. But I do keep trying to be his friend. He's taking his meds through wet food...loves that wet food!
He does have a way though of looking right through you. Please keep wishing for good vibes for him!
