crystals!!

Post by koli10 »

Hello. Im having a problem with Joey. My vet detected crystals on his urine about a year and a half ago. He gave Joey S/d for 30 days. After they cleared, he went on C/d. A month ago, I went my old vet, to take kanga for her chrinic dierrhea (which is still on and off). He recommended to do a food trial with I/d, and said that I could put both cats on i/d since there'd be no harm to joey, and it'd be easier to control. He said that i/d has similar effects preventing the formation of crystals. This morning, I discovered that my joey (still not sure but almost sure) peeied on my husband's clothes, and left a lot of crystals (looks like sea salt.... well not that big, but they range in sizes). I called my current vet to tell him, and since he knows joey's history told me to get another bag of s/d. I just bought it and gave it to him. My question is, what kind of things do I have to look for? My vet said to check the bladder but I've never checked one, so I don't know how its supposed to feel. And also, how often are cats supposed to pee?? When can you tell a cat isn't peeing properly??? Any more suggestions?? Thank you :? !!!

What kind of vet tells you to do this, get Joey to a NEW VET, and immediately! Like TODAY!

You cannot determine crystals from looking at the urine, it HAS to be tested. Get him to a vet RIGHT NOW. A new vet preferrably, because he should be on strictly C/D, not the I/D. You should also have a new vet re-evaluate Kanga, because the "chronic diarrhea" probably has never been properly addressed, as I suspected last year!

Do NOT palpate, feel, press or anything to the bladder, you could cause injury!!! Get to vet NOW.
