Introducing Cats to EACH OTHER!!??

Post by maxwell33 »

Hi there everyone..
I will be leaving my cat for the summer with my friend who already has two cats. Now, I took my cat over there for the first time. When they saw each other, they made their backs long, and they hissed at each other..but then, the other cat just sat down and watched my cat explore..but what was funny was that the other cat would just meow the whole time...My cat went on the couch, the other would meow...it went on and on like this... it was kinda funny...well, is this a good sign? Do you think theyll get along? My cat is about 8 months, and theirs is 7 years....do u think it;ll work?

I could certainly work. I cat-sat for a friend once, and she wanted me to bring her cat over here...he got along fairly well with all my cats and vice versa. Ideally it is best to not take a cat out of it's environment, but if you are going to be gone for a long period of time then I'd say it's OK. I will tell you it will possibly be stressful on your cat. Make sure you have arranged for your friend to seek vet care if needed. Make sure you cat has it's own toys, bed etc...something familiar from home. You also might want to leave a few t-shirts or clothing items you have worn so that your cat can have your smell to comfort him or her. Also are both cats up to date on vaccines?? Spayed and neutered?
