smelling cat urine

Post by Debgat »

Hi I'm new to CatHelp,
I have a cat I rescued a few years ago. She is an indoor/outdoor cat. She does her business outside. We have now put in a desert landscape and I can smell the urine. I want to direct her to one part of the yard.
I would appreciate some suggestions on how to accomplish this.
Thank you

I regret being rude, especially to a newcomer, but frankly I get so tired of seeing "behind-the-times" posts of this sort. To put it bluntly, people who cannot or will not provide indoor litter boxes should not have cats. There are some very good articles in the sidebar of this forum for those who wish to update their information re cats in today's world. The only other suggestion I can offer for your landscaping problem is that you find a home for the cat with someone who cares about cats for the cats' sake and tries to understand the needs, limitations, restrictions etc. associated with keeping pet cats.

Wait you have sand outside? Heck i'd be doing potty there to if I were a cat.

Dear newcomer we ONLY advocate INDOORS ONLY. THere is no need to have an outside cat. Your kitty will get use to and be just fine as an indoor only cat no matter what you think. Why in the name of the good Lord would you subject your kitty to not have a litter box in your home.
Shame! Get a litter pan in the house, keep the kitty indoors and you wont have to worry about your new landscapping which I assume didn't have the money grow on trees to get it. You worked hard to get it and do it so buy a $4.99 litter pan and a bag of litter and be done with it. Kitty should be inside you will save yourself the cost of flea medicine, flea dirt dermititis medicine, antibiotics due to injury, cost of hit by car surgery....the list goes on and on..You might think that you have never had it happen and it wont happen to you but really....dont we all say it will never happen to us.?

Do youself and your kitty a favor, give her a proper home that is safe and buy her a litter pan.

If you have issues with her being inside only then do her a favor and find someone who will give her an inside only home.

Good luck dear
