Tripod ~ Just an Update ~ Dec 16, 2008
Re: Tripod ~ Updated with Pictures 08-09-08
poultry netting would be a great idea!!
Thanks....
and I brought up some chicken breast from the freezer...we are having chicken tonight...hahaha....I will boil it and keep the broth for Tripod and probably put the breasts into a casserole with some cream of chicken and rice and cheese and veggies for us....
stitches are out....vet was impressed with how well he was doing...except for the fluid intake...he said he would like to see MORE than what he is wanting to take in and to keep trying and keep in touch...bring him back if necessary....
his nose IS pinkish today....skin very pliable....he urinated this morning and again in the carrier on the way out of the vet....it was a darkish colour, but not TOO dark...but not TOO strong in odor, so that is good...I guess....
He came right out at home....jumped onto the toilet and proceeded to groom himself....then came to do figure 8s around my legs....
I have both of his blankets along with Sammie's soaking in the washer right now, so he just has his pillow and a towel upstairs....
After I work tomorrow, I am off for SIX days, so plan on maybe bringing him downstairs and doing some introductions while I can be home for that many days to supervise...
Thanks....

Maybe put an icecube in his water dish to kind of get him interested. And continue adding water to his canned food. However, because he is getting water in his canned food, he could be avoiding his water dish because he feels "satiated" with the water. Maybe also try changing it a few times a day if you can, is the bathroom humid by chance? If so, this can definately affect the taste of the water.
Glad to hear the incision is healing nicely, good job!!

yes....the incision site has healed VERY nice....and Tripod never bothered with it ONCE the entire time he has been healing...he was good at the vet's...never tried to bite or claw....just laid there growling under his breath a bit...and was more than happy to get back into the carrier to come home!!!
The bathroom is not humid at all....it is very airy in there...we have a regular sized window right by the toilet, I mean....we can sit there and rest our arms on the widowsill...hahaha....and it is a normal sized sash window with screen etc and open full height for sunshine and breezes....it is never humid in there except when we close the window to bathe (so nosey neighbors don't peek in through the trees!) but right after we are done and dressed the window is back open again....
I thought of the ice cube just a little while ago...gotta get more ice as my son left the bag out lastnight....we buy bags of ice too...nasty water here.....

Thank you....man oh man....it seems like after he got those stitches out, he was rearing to go!!
he never settled down in the bathroom until probably 2am...I could hear him up and down from toilet to windowsill to toilet to floor....meowing....pawing at the door...
he still never ate/drank any of the canned food I left for him, but this morning I gave him a different kind and he was wolfing it down when I left for work....
Hubby is off work today so will boil up that chicken I was going to do lastnight and serve him some broth and see how he does....and maybe even take him down for some introductions....

Well....I have left the bathroom door open today....I am home from work for the next SIX days (and plan to do alot of housework ) and introductions with Tripod....
I just spent about a half hour working on coaxing him OUT of the bathroom and into the hall...after he did that, with MANY backward glances towards his haven...he made it to the end of the hall, which is fairly long...at least 16 feet...then back to the bathroom...but as I swept down the stairs, he came out on his own again, and started DOWN the stairs...carefully one at a time....to sit on the landing and watch me for a while....
by the time I got to the bottom entry hall...which has been a catch all for many things for a while and in desperate need of cleaning up, he was meandering his way DOWN the main staircase, watching me through the railings on the banister....
He finally made it DOWN to the main hall, wandered about while I cleaned up....sniffed under the French doors at Sammie and Gump....growled at them and worked his way back up the stairs!!
I came and got Cuddles and took her to the hall where the two of them are now content with each other...I will leave it at that for introductions to the household for the day....tomorrow we will get a bit further...maybe Munkie will go join Tripod and Cuddles....

Was hoping you would post today...I love hearing how this is progressing.
Re: Tripod ~ Updated with Pictures 08-09-08
physically he is getting along wonderfully....I watched lastnight as he hopped onto the bathroom sink, sniffed around then hopped back down...THAT still worries me and I do NOT like it...but the bathroom sink is not that far of a jump...
I do feel bad for him at times.....like when Cuddles was wanting to come INTO the bathroom and he did not want her to.....his stumpy shoulder started to swat at her like it could do alot....and sometimes that left shoulder is the one to automatically reach for my hand when I am rubbing his belly or playing with him....
I think he was predominantly left pawed, as I have noticed most critters tend to be...
