Jason,

You didn't mislead me..I definitely appreciated your thoughts and it was definitely worth a try...

I'm left handed so it wasn't the easiest thing for me to manuever (?Sp).

But real issue was that it wasn't sturdy and it broke so easily.

I'm glad I tried it to..so thanks for your help..

I have one of the littermaid boxes, I got the bigger one because I had 2 cats at the time. I had a problem with litter getting all over, so I got one of those tent like things to put it in (sorry, don't remember what they are called.) I used it for several months before I put it away. I had a problem with not being able to put enough litter in it, I went through a lot more litter because I had to replace all of it more often because it was cemented to the bottom. When the weather got warmer, the smell was really bad. The poo is in a plastic container and not covered with litter....I had to empty it out everytime the cats used it. Scooping once or twice a day is a lot easier. The cats did like it though, the noise didn't bother them, and I never had a prolem with the motor starting when they were in it. It sits in the garage collecting dust now....definately a waste of money.

Hm....... I just bought one of these and I may wish I had read the threads before I bought it.

So far my guys seem to like it. They are not particularly startled-prone kitties (except when they sneak up on each other), and they have very good litterbox habits over all. (Sylvia has excellent habits - Gizmo has certain "buttons" that will 'cause him to poop outside the box - namely, he's afraid of the dark)

We will see how it goes - tho I HAVE noticed that if you over fill it, it jams - which is sort of a drag because it seems like there's not enough litter, but eh, we'll see. :)

this thread reminds me....

i settled on a litter a while back and guess i will share my opinion....fresh step....if cleaned at regular intervals (not allowing it to fill up too much) i have had the best clumping and the most removal of waste which keeps the box clean when i scoop.

I'm surprised to see this thread is still getting press

I'll join Jason and sharemy thoughts on litter..

When I went on my tangent of decreasing environmental issues that potentially played a role in Smokey's lung problems, I started doing research on litters. I switched to Swheat Scoop and I am very satisfied this liter decreasing the odors and it's clumping abilities. The key is to scoop frequently and keep several inches of litter in the box.

The Swheat Scoop is non toxic, and can even be flushed (never tried this though).

I'm hooked.

I have had a auto. lltter box for about a year and it is great. I have four cats and they all use it. It saves on litter and is easier to keep the odor down. It has been well worth the expense.
