Are you referring to a luxated patellar? If so, while this can be an expensive surgery, it is worth it for correcting the problem, and Nikki is depending on you to do the right thing.

Since you have almost half of the expenses donated, your vet would probably work out a payment arrangement with you, such as post-dated checks, paying on a monthly schedule, etc, you should ask him/her for the options (you can also call around to other vet surgeons in your area for price quotes/payment arrangements). Also, try selling something of value, whatever it takes. Relying on donations and giving it until Monday is not really fair to Nikki, he's given you 14 years of unconditional love and companionship, please do the right thing and give him the same consideration.

If I may suggest a friendly tip. You might want to provide the option of photos rather than videos at your site, users with slow connections may not wait for the videos to load.

The videos are heartbreaking...I sat and cried...

I do hope that your vet will do Nikkis surgery NOW...not even waiting for next week...since tou have over half of the funds now...

Please...call him and set a date ASAP to help Nikki get better...it must be very hard on all of you, but especially Nikki, to be hurting like he is...

Most vets I know will take payment plans, esppecially if you do have over half of the needed amount already...

Keep us posted on Nikki's progress...please do not let him go...he deserves a few more good years with his family...talk to your vet...

Hey...as of 7:15CST, you are only $440 away :)

I hope you can talk your vet into performing the surgery FRIDAY?! You would be VERY close by then...if not the full amount...and if you do not have it by Friday, I am sure you probably would by Monday...

No sense in making Nikki suffer any longer than necessary...if your vet will not do it without the full amount up front, then I would consider seeking another more compassionate vet...

Please keep us posted...

A big thanks to all those that helped out in the fund raising effort for Nikki. It has been 48 hours and we have raised almost all the money with the exception of $113.00 which should be complete by tomorrow. Unfortunately at the momment PayPal is down right now due to technical problems.

Nikki is right now is completely immobile and we move him around our selves. He is otherwise in good spirits. We have the appointment for him next Tuesday with the specialist.

We are very touched by the awesome support and chatritable donations for Nikki. I can't wait to make a new video of him all patched up and walking again. The un-selfish care love everyone has displayed has allowed us to keep Nikki a live and with us.

Thank from the bottom of our hearts.

Brad Thompson & Family.

Brad...I am so happy that Nikki will be getting the surgery he needs...
In the meantime, keep him on his pain meds as prescribed, and restricted movement as little as possible to lessen the risk of further injury to his leg or spine...

He is lucky to have such a caring family as yours...best of luck on surgery day...please come let us know ASAP the outcome and how he is doing!

Your video made me cry, as it was nearly a year ago today that I had to had my beloved part-Siamese cat put to sleep. She had lost the use of her rear legs, and x-rays didn't show anything, but an MRI revealed a huge spinal tumor pressing on her nerves. She looked & moved very much like your Nikki in the video. Ask your vet if this could be a possibility. Much hugs to you and Nikki.
