You're absolutely right--and an earlier post mentions crawling into plastic bags. I've heard that a kitten or cat can be smothered, just like an infant, if tangled up in a plastic bag.

These felines really need a bit of watching.

Here's another horror story: When my cat was about a year old, I had the carpet steam-cleaned, and lots of stuff was moved around for this occasion. Somebody came in with a steam-cleaning vacuum cleaner attached to a hose, and since it didn't look too different from an ordinary vacuum cleaner, I didn't think a lot about it.

It never occurred to me that a piece of it might have dropped off in my apartment.

I didn't find out about this until the next day, when my cat suddenly began gagging and retching violently, and out came a gigantic piece of hard rubber, about an inch and a half long and an inch wide, and solid.

She had found a piece of the rubber bumper from the vacuum machine and EATEN it. I was amazed that she didn't have to go to the vet.
