Riyoku, we do not advocate outdoor living for cats...the outdoor dangers are too great, your post has outdoor dangers written all over it, as evidenced by your cats running away, getting lost, never to be found again.

Please, do NOT let your new kitten/cat outdoors, this is NOT the solution to any behavioral problem.

As for the compressed air can, never use it directly on the cat, but away from the cat, like above her, never directly on her.

Why are they not detailed in this?.. I'm not a mind reader... but thank you for clarifying this.. It seemed pretty darned cruel if you ask me.. I thought it was literally hurting her more than teaching her not to bite.

As for outdoor living, that's purely opinionated... yes there are outdoor hazards.. but we find it cruel to keep an animal that enjoys chasing mice and lizards and pouncing butterflies and exploring the fresh air and natural environments cooped up indoors their entire lives. Our kitten has shown us that she WANTS to go outside.. she has our back porch and tries to chase lizards through the screen then mopes when she realises she has major limits. She also needs to be confined to a carrier whenever we know were going to open a door.. because she can, will, and has slipped out.(and there are indoor hazards too.. possibly more than outdoor at times.)

Anyway, I am not forcing my opinions on you.. so please respect mine as well.

Who, the website who suggested it? (I don't know, it wasn't my site)....or the manufacturer of the compressed air can? (because it isn't intended for use for pets)

Opinions like wanting cats outdoors, do not prevent accidents from happening, mainly getting lost, hit by car, terrorized by strangers, picked up and sent to a pound, weather hazards of all types...

Indoor cat desperate to be outdoor cat
Making an indoor cat an outdoor cat.

You're really pushing it... It IS opinionated. Yes, outdoor hazards, blah blah. I belive the animal deserves to be free, hazards or not. They aren't bubble children and sizzle into a pile of fluff if exposed to sunlight.

Using this as a comparison to human children. You don't keep your kids indoors their whole life do you? Even though THEY too can get bit by snakes, attacked by racoons, hit by a car, or get lost. I watch my cats when they're first learning to go outside, closely. Yes, all have ended up being given away or vanishing, but that's life. Yes I cry, but I'm happier they went in a natural habitat then me having to put them down.(Which to be honest I wont be able to handle holding my dead, limp, pet)

If you're going to push your beliefs on me then I'll gladly return the favor.

Your beleif system is your own, but I told you this board does NOT advocate outdoor living for cats, when you are in a position to watch hundreds of cats mauled, maimed and killed by a car or other outdoor hazards, then you can come back here and advocate sound reasons why cats should be outdoors. If you are still not convinced, search the net on hazards, or read other posts in this forum to see how others lost their cats by an outdoor accident and how they felt afterward.

This thread is now closed. Read our House Rules, abide by them or seek another message board elsewhere.

Administration reserves this right...if you're not happy with how we run and moderate this board, you are welcome to seek help elsewhere. Do not bother re-posting on our forums unless you have something legitimate to say that benefits ALL readers, and that it stays within the theme of this forum, that being a FELINE HEALTH forum, and that being we are here to help, not engage in personal belief systems and arguments.
