Let me start by saying thank you to all who replied; most of your replies were very thoughtful. However, it appears that my cat has now stopped showing signs of the most recent urination problem. In the past few months we have feared a return twice with the problem appearing to go away after only a day or two.

I still plan to take her to get an x-ray and will continue to pursue this since I don't want something to be there that may get worse. I have some reason to believe that it is stress related and am not looking forward to leaving her alone for a few days during Thanksgiving, but perhaps I can collect some emperical data if I must leave.

Thanks again and I will post when/if I find out more.

Triska, stress is actually a precursor to many urological problems. Meaning that anything going undetected, can indeed be induced by stress. Even during or after a course of treatment, stress at any time can again trigger the event.

Again, I would suggest a culture as your next step...if that is inconclusive, opt for an x-ray analysis or contrast cystography.
