Only that care should be taken around the eyes, and to be sanitary about the application (i.e., use a cotton swab/q-tip to apply on the affected area, because bacteria or salt on your skin could further irritate it)
However, if you feel she has a sensitivity or irritation to it, discontinue it immediately and call your vet first thing in the morning. Some pets do have a mild sensitivity to it, so he may need to come up with something else for that area, or he may suggest leaving that area alone altogether as long as the other areas (if any) are being treated.
