Your vet is probably taking a slight wait and see approach......given the nature of her recovery, and her age, she doesn't want to overload or tax her system with too many medications. It is clear that your kitten is recovering from the distemper, but until the FELV serology is back, your vet can't truly expect to know much more. Monitorization in this case may be the best course of action, at least until the test results are back.

Saying the RBC is low, does not mean they are drastically low, they might simply be in low normal range, and your vet is monitoring her closely to make sure they do not fall below the normal range. On the other hand, if the platelets drop considerably fast, or consistently, then she of course would take immediate action and treat AS IF regenerative anemia or AS IF a secondary bacterial/viral infection, without waiting for the FELV serology report.

According to your accounts, it does sound like your kitten is fighting and that she is making exceptional progress, especially given her age and the nature of the distemper. Hang in there, and of course, call first thing in the a.m. for a progress report, and or so that you can visit her immediately.

Marble Update! I just came back from the vet...Marble's nose has pinked up a bit..and she is totally rambunkcious..She will not sit still...she has been eating and drinking all on her own all weekend long.. :D I am so pleased...we are doing another blood test today to see if her blood counts have gone up..still no news on when she can come home tho.. :( To me she just keeps looking and acting better and better every day..Today I couldn't keep her still..she kept pawing my face and wanted to run around the room in that funny kitten way..with her back all arched ready to pounce..Now I ask you..does this sound like a sick kitten?? her counts HAVE to have gotten better..She meows and purrs like crazy and rubs herself over me..I am so EXCATIC to see her like this..I just hope the blood results come back better..and that she will come back with us soon..We may get the results back tonight..if not in the morning..and as you know I will be there first thing!!

Now..my question is this regenerative anemia ..does that mean once her body is on the mend that the anemia will go away??

Thanks again SO Much for all this info Traci..and taking the time...I am feeling so optimistic with her...she is just a cutie...!!
