Re: Doc's medical thread
Yes, they are doing blood work. They got him back and were starting on that right away. They are putting him on fluids as well. They said I did the right thing bringing him in. I know they will take good care of him. I just don't want and Doc doesn't need any more hurdles. BTW...the vet I saw tonight was familiar with his case and he said the tests on his spleen tissue and liver tissue should be back tomorrow hopefully.

Yes, that is my understanding. I won't get them myself because of the hour, but I will get an update in the morning. They will only call me overnight if it is an emergency and they would need to approve any sort of treatment beyond bloodwork, fluids, and meds...I don't anticipate that.

I was hoping they could tell you what they suspect, in terms of possible infection maybe - hope they check the tubing, bandaging, incision, and check the CBC - they might want to give injectable antibiotics based on the CBC - have you left the clinic?

Re: Doc's medical thread
I am sure they will check the tubing, they were very persistent in telling me about caring for it and checking it. I left the clinic because they were taking him back into ICU. I saw no reason for me to stick around up there. They have authorization to do any treatment needed and they have my phone number if they need to reach me over night. I needed the rest myself. I'm pretty much at a major stage of exhaustion right now. I should hear from them no later than 9am tomorrow.

Ok, update us when you can...in the meantime, know we're thinking of and praying for a speedy recovery for Doc, he's been through so much, but he is quite the fighter!

I will. I am hoping for good news tomorrow. I am hoping that fluids will help too. I am beginning to think he needs to stay in an ICU setting until he is fully recouped and the tube comes out.

Re: Doc's medical thread
Personally, I wouldn't have released him that early, nor with the feeding tube in place - although it was a pretty good idea for the feeding tube, I still think it was a little early to be released. He had two major surgeries just one week apart, and hasn't really had a chance to rest comfortably (except at home) - I would guess he is really stressed.
I had two surgeries a few months apart, I never healed from them completely for months! (different of course, just sayin')

Yea, I was a little bit leery of the release yesterday and I almost didn't agree to it. Hindsight is 20/20 though. I just pray he makes a quick recovery. He seemed to be doing so well last night when I brought him home.

Think good vibes, Tina, and you should know there's a ton of prayers going on right now! I honestly don't know why the fever re-occured unless from stress, released too early, or antibiotic choice needs to be re-evaluated. Let's hope nothing serious this time, he needs a chance to rest and recover.
