Hi Tambrey, we are still trying to find a name that suits her. So far Pebbles, Violet, Daisy, Piper and Checkers have come up, but they just aren't right!Tambrey wrote:what a cutie....soooo...what is her name?!

Too bad she is a she...I always told my DH that the next tuxedo looking cat we got was going to be named Mr. Mistopheles from CATS!
That is where my Munkie got his name...he is a gray tabby and that one in the play is Munkestat...

Oh how adorable she is! Are you sure you can't keep her?
How about the female version of Christapurr?

Tambrey: I love your kitty names! It's easier to find names for a boy kitty.
Traci: Christapurr is such a cute name! I've finally decided to name her Daisy. She looks like a Daisy and it's easy to pronounce.
I fed her at 6am this morning and she ate all her food. She's been subdued - probably from post op pain, so I've just collected some oral pain meds from the vet - Metacam syringes 0.1ml. I've moved her out of the bathroom into my office so I can keep an eye on her while I'm working. I wish we could keep her. Unfortunately there are a few factors: 1) our 3 seniors have had very high vet bills this year - about $8000, and my husband says we cannot afford a 4th cat. 2) Ozwald is a very aggressive male and becomes a Norman Bates psycho with strange kitties. 3)My husband is tolerant of me fostering a stray cat until we can find a good home, which I've done in the past. If I break that trust he'll put his foot down about fostering in the future, and I know there will be cats I rescue and foster in the future - they always find me.
I got a call back from Cat Adoption Team in Portland today saying they can take her in the 3rd week of January and put her up for adoption. I used to volunteer with them, and they are a wonderful organisation, much better than the local in-humane society which is terrible over here. I'll keep her indoors until then. In the meantime I'm also going to ask around at my vet and cat loving friends as the priority is for her to go to a loving, indoor only, caring family. Please wish me luck in finding her a good home!

I agree that privately finding a good home is better than a resuce organization attempting adoption, as you never know how that situation is going to turn out.
I wish you much luck and that you find a wonderful, comitted, caring and loving home for Daisy!!

Re: Just caught a feral/homeless kitty and have a question
Hi everyone, I thought I'd just update you on Daisy. She had her spay stitches out last week and her wound has healed beautifully. She had her first deworming as well, and I'm giving her the next one on 12/19. She's going for her boosters next week. She's adapted very well to being indoors. I have her confined in my home office still and I spend a lot of time with her while I'm working. I've brought Moche and Teddie in to say hello to her as they are both docile older cats - she hissed at them and went back to sleep, but I'm sure she'll get used to them. I haven't introduced Ozwald yet, he's extremely hostile and vicious, and I don't want to stress Daisy. She has learned to use her litterbox, responds to toys, and voluntarily jumps up onto my lap. We're going to try and get her adopted privately, although I'm really hoping we'll be able to keep her and that Ozwald will accept her. She's a lovely little cat, still very scared of loud noises and strange voices, which is to be expected since she probably went through hell outdoors. She's put on one and a half pounds since she was spayed and tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I caught her.

Awww, thanks for taking such good care of her. Here's good thoughts and vibes that Ozwald will take to her! Remember, slow introductions!

Well guys, Daisy has been with us for 9 weeks now, and I think she's staying. She gets along well with the other cats, (they have the odd ambush/scuffle) but overall it's fine. She had problems chewing food so I took her to the vet for a dental cleaning. She was 7 pounds when I rescued her and now she's a zaftig 11.5 pounds, looking very sleek and cuddly. She's my little shadow and follows me everywhere, we've bonded strongly and I love her from the tip of her tail to her bright pink nose. What a darling she is! She's very scared of strangers and hides if people come to visit, poor little thing. She likes to sleep on the bed with me at night and she watches Orangutan Island on tv! I've broken my own rule about not adopting foster kitties, but Daisy is a special child and I love her so much.
