So happy that there might be a reason for what is ailing her...Not that I would have wished Hyperthyroidism on her BUT at least there is medicine that can be taken to help. Personally I have Hyperthyroidism and so did my Beloved kitty, Tiger.
If this is truly the case and she does have this then you should expect to go there often to get blood work done to make sure the levels are good on the dose that they give. They might have to change it to make sure that it is the right level so be patient.
Please make sure you ask the vet what the side effects of what ever the drug of his choice will be. If you notice any signs please call the vet with them.
also and i know this from experience myself, I am sure she is itchy so try to brush her out. Her hair might fall out of is falling out and that might be too much for her to lick. Don't freak out if her hair comes out in chunks but please make sure the vet knows if it does.
Give what ever medicine the vet gives as directed and dont skip it. Please let us know how the blood work comes out either way. Hugs to kitty.
Oh and Kudos to your for taking kitty in even when parents thought she was ok...Not sure how old you are BUT GREAT JOB no matter what your age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes parents dont want to listen to us, whether we are 14 or 40 ! LOL Glad you got kitty looked at!!

Exactly what tests were done? Was a full bloodwork profile done in combination with the thyroid panel?
