I have heard that cats that are declawed can become biters out of self defense. Did you notice a change after the declawing? I personally would never declaw my cat, but has anyone experienced this?

JacksLostRevenge wrote:I forgot to mention that he likes water. I've tried the water bottle method in the past and he seems to actually enjoy it (I don't have air conditioning). He also likes to jump in the shower with me alot and he insists on drinking water from the faucet as opposed to out of his bowl (which I change everyday).

He's a finicky beast.
I can't help but laugh hysterical. A cat that loves the water!!!!!!!!!

I have no advice except to divert him, have you tried a sock monster? YEs i said sock monster LOL. Take your old socks just a few and stick then in two socks, ties those two together and when he wants to play with your arm with his hind legs give him the sock monster. I would actually insist my cats play with this and rough play with them just to make them play with this as well. We loved the rough play so we didn't mind although I have scars to prove it, but we were young and didn't know better. LOL

sock monsters are a great toy for them once they get use to it.

Please also when he does scratch you make sure you clean it well with soap and water and put bacitracin on it. If you do see redness of any kind around it make sure you squeeze a little bit to see if liquid comes out. You want to make sure there is no icky stuff in there. Just keep it clean and dry so it scabs and falls off without too much scarring. (sorry to state the obvious but had to since kitty's claws can be full of germs.)

re: cats liking water...

a few years ago, I was handraising some orphans and the little boy liked to lay in the tub with me...he would curl up on my chest, right under my chin, as I laid there relaxing...and just purrrrr himself to sleep...and he did not mind if a foot or his tail fell into the water...

Gambit sounds so much like my orange tabby, Ginger. Ginger LOVES the water, stops and stares with his eyes closed when you squirt him instead of bolting. Likes to sit right on the counter, even when I'm trying to brush my teeth - he needs to be right with me, usually at certain routine times of the day like when I'm getting ready for work!!! Ginger also attacks out of the blue, and has left some pretty nice marks on me. The rest of the time he's super friendly and loving with everyone and very affectionate, though not a lap cat.

Ginger is slightly older than Gambit, he'll be two in March. He is from a litter of a barn cat and we know we got him wayyyyy too early in his fifth week of life. He still tries to nurse, determined to suck on our clothes, kneading and all.

I just find the similarities strange. Gambit looks and sounds a lot like Ginger!!
