Weight Problem

Post by Katie F. »

Hello! It has been a while since I have posted. My kids Ophelia and Viola are a year and four months old. I just took them to the vet for shots. Ophelia has always been a bit larger than Viola (they are littermates), however over the past four months the difference has grown much larger. Ophelia weighed in at 11 pounds and Viola at 9. The vet said she is concerned about the weight gain.

When Ophelia was 10 months old she developed colitis that eventually was eliminated when I began feeding her chicken only protein food. They both were eating 1/2 Prescription Diet w/d and 1/2 California Natural Chicken and Rice. 1/4 cup total for each cat two times a day (1/2 cup for each cat each day - if Ophelia doesn't eat Viola's food!) I have switched them to only w/d now because of my concern over Ophelia's weight, but really liked the idea of the natural food. Does anyone know of a natural premium cat food that is low fat/high fiber and chicken protein only?

Thanks!

p.s. You can copy the link below to see pictures. Ophelia has an all gray face and Viola has a gray and white face.

Katie, please check this post for a discussion on the same issue.

Have you incorporated an exercise/play program for them? This is a vital part of any weight management plan.
